Hilton’s recipe for happiness in 2024

Homepage / Our Blog / Hilton’s recipe for happiness in 2024

We have started a New Year and involuntarily I am thinking about the passage of time, time is a limited resource, how do I manage it? Do I make lists for the new year or do I let my fluffy friends teach me something?

The difference between humans and cats in terms of time is how each species perceives and manages this dimension.

Who is Hilton? A two-and-a-half-year-old blue-eyed cat who always gets what she wants.

At times like this, I tend to think about the past, plan the future, reflect on accomplishments, make lists and goals, feel the pressure of time, and often have a pronounced awareness of passing years and social expectations. Hilton, on the other hand, lives in the present, focusing on immediate needs and enjoying the experience of the moment.

Cats have a closer perspective on time, focusing on activities that bring them immediate satisfaction or fulfill needs in the moment. Hilton can spend a lot of time chasing toys, exploring the environment, or resting in a comfortable place. A cat’s circadian rhythm adapts to its daily habits, such as recurring periods of hunting or feeding. In addition, cats can be affected by changes in light and dark, adjusting their behavior to the natural cycle of the day.

The joy of the present: Hilton lives in the present and enjoys every moment. He reminds me to appreciate the simple things in life and to be present in my moments of happiness. Hilton truly lives in the spirit of carpe diem. She engages in activities that bring her immediate pleasure, exploring her surroundings, hunting for toys, or relaxing for hours on end, not worrying about future fears or past events, but enjoying each present moment. She inspires me to be open to new experiences, to enrich my life through exploration, and to keep doing what I am doing.

Hilton is authentic and lives by her own instincts, she knows how to manage her time for rest and relaxation.

Do we as human beings know how to be authentic and pursue what makes us happy without being influenced by external pressures, do we take time to take care of ourselves and recharge our energy?

Acceptance and unconditional love is another lesson we can learn from Hilton and her fluffy companions. Cats often give unconditional love to their owners. They remind us to accept people as they are and to offer love without excessive expectations.

So, after a week spent with Hilton and the rest of the furrbabies, there is one item on my “must do” list for the New Year: Adopting aspects from the perspective of thinking and behaving from the cats in my life.

I invite you, dear friends, for a more relaxed, happy and authentic approach in the New Year, let’s follow the way cats venture into experiences, showing their natural curiosity and joy in everything they do, they don’t hesitate to enjoy playing, loving, paying attention or resting, they offer us an example of how to appreciate the simple joys of life.

Happy New Year!
